Puno (San Carlos de Puno, November 4, 1668) is a city in southeastern Peru, capital of the department of Puno and province of Puno. Approximately in the 1950s the Amantani peasants had acquired almost the entirety of the island. They have adopted an organization based on kinship and the reciprocity of family property work on land parcels.
